The journey and narrative of The 818 Company brand is delicately woven into the life of her founder and Creative Lead, Oluwadamilola Anjorin. Her love for arts, a God-given skill and a desire to create! With a professional background in law, she found herself pursuing a passion in fashion which developed at a very early age. Having been born into a family of textile designers and fashion-forward matriarchs, it wasn't long before the innate gifts of designing began to arise within her, from simple fashion illustration doodles to pursuing, after her tertiary education, some training in pattern making and fashion design, to understanding the business of fashion. Often inspired and stirred by her unique African background, its vibrant colour and limitless possibilities for bold, and unapologetically audacious expression both in art and life generally, mixed with her love for fabric and the endless varieties, the potential therein for unlimited expression in design, but more so she draws inspiration from problem solving and design development, constantly desiring that garments work for the woman and not the woman for garments. Hence the reason why she has built The 818 Company brand, a textile and women's apparel ready-to-wear retail and bespoke fashion company, to cater for the needs of that woman who recognises first the blessedness that she brings to the table by just being a woman and her desire to be clothed aright and unencumbered by failure in design or style, but confidently garbed to be and to do all she was made to, gracefully.
