I am Ugochukwu Chukwuemerie, a Nigeria-based fashion and textile designer, as well as the lead creative director of UGOOCHUKWUEMERIE, a clothing brand born out of a zeal to educate, showcase, and preserve the African culture using fabric. At Ugoochukwuemerie, we integrate knowledge and information about our culture into our fabrics, providing a unique way to connect with our heritage. Our goal is to prevent the extinction of knowledge about African culture by making it more accessible and engaging which is why we make use of signs and symbols that can be seen on the pieces we create. Our craft is dedicated to celebrating African heritage and designed for everyone who wants to explore the richness of African culture through fashion.
