Ankara Artifacts
Kenya My name is Sharlene Chepkemoi, a Kenyan creative entrepreneur and the founder of Ankara Artifacts. I have always been drawn to the power of fabric and design as a way to tell stories, preserve culture, and create beauty in everyday life. What began as a small passion project in 2020 has grown into a lifestyle brand that celebrates African heritage through modern, functional, and stylish pieces.
My inspiration comes from the vibrancy of African culture, especially the versatility of Ankara fabric and how it can be reimagined into timeless designs. I am passionate about creating products that not only make people feel confident and connected but also carry meaning and impact.
Through my work, I aim to merge tradition with contemporary living — from bags and home décor to clothing coming soon — while empowering artisans and expanding opportunities for handmade African goods to reach global markets. For me, design is more than aesthetics; it is a way to build bridges, inspire pride, and leave a mark that uplifts others.
