My name is Shirley Anyango, lead designer and creative director of Apar Gadek. I am a multidisciplinary (largely self taught) artist whose current artistic expression encompasses jewellery design. I learnt quite early on in my childhood that I was good with my hands, and owing to my love for beautiful and unique things, I started to make them. As creative director for Apar Gadek, my goal is to disrupt the jewellery industry in Kenya and the world through artistic one-of-a-kind designs. I also desire for my craft to play a part in improving the livelihoods of the artisans I work with by providing decent, gainful income.
