The Nigerian native’s brand BABAYO aims to create the perfect synergy between history, culture, art and fashion. Shehu also wants to empower and collaborate with local craftspeople and artisans to create authentic cultural narratives. The goal is to highlight innovative ways in which century-old craftsmanship such as embroidery, beading and fabrication sit at the intersection of comfort and style. Quite a tall order, but the result is a pleasing mix of authenticity and luxury that celebrates the brand’s colourful heritage in a fresh, unique way.
