This artwork is off the ‘‘Redefining Identity’’ series.

Based on Lawrence Kohlbery's cognitive development theory, there is an acquisition of gender roles as a result of gender constancy. Children's understanding of the irreversibility of their sex, at the age of 2 to 3 years they become aware of one's own gender and that of others. At age of 3 to 7 years, they realise that they are male or female and are aware of the gender of others. Around ages 5 to 6 they learn to classify themselves as male or female.

My twin daughters are the muse for this series of artworks.
