Fashion Designer | Entrepreneur | Mentor | Advocate for Slow & Conscious Fashion Kubi Igwe is a seasoned fashion designer and creative entrepreneur dedicated to purposeful design, sustainable creativity, and conscious living. She holds a Master of Arts in Fashion Design (Womenswear) from Istituto Marangoni, London, and an M.Sc. in Project & Enterprise Management from University College London. She founded the womenswear brand IHEKUBI in 2014, originally as a bespoke occasionwear brand. Over the years, the brand has evolved into a contemporary fashion house with a strong focus on ready-to-wear. In 2018, she launched MAPbyIHEKUBI, a ready-to-wear line committed to creating stylish, functional, and effortlessly elegant pieces for modern women. MAPbyIHEKUBI reflects her belief that fashion should be expressive, accessible, and thoughtfully designed for real-life versatility. To complement her growing advocacy for sustainability and wardrobe longevity, she also introduced Altermoda in 2021—a small but intentional initiative aimed at reducing fashion waste through repurposing, repairing, and reimagining existing wardrobe items. While Altermoda supports her slow-fashion values, her primary focus remains the expansion of IHEKUBI’s ready-to-wear offering and driving innovation in women’s everyday fashion. Her professional expertise spans fashion design, creative direction, consulting, mentoring, and public speaking. She has assessed over 100 fashion trainees and mentored nearly 10 female entrepreneurs through government-sponsored programmes and private initiatives. Kubi’s work and thought leadership have been featured across platforms such as GTBank Fashion Weekend, Fashion Revolution Nigeria, South African Consulate (Women’s Day), Africa Fashion Week Nigeria, and Fashion Souk Global. Her contributions to the fashion industry have also been highlighted by Channels TV, BellaNaijaStyle, and The REDEdit Magazine.
